last year i discovered a stone age old unicode bug on mac os x + ios. all version are vulnerable to it. nevertheless apple was able to fix it finally after a lifespan of round about 8 years in the mac os x environment 😉
the bad news here is that apple didn’t manage to incorporate that fix in the update of os x mavericks 10.9.4, so it is still crashing and application which uses the default unicode processing libraries.
safari, chrome, terminal, system preferences, wifi, network shares, etc… there are various vectors to introduce a crash in a mac os x system. i assume the bug is still unfixed on ios latest version and will be fixed in the upcoming ios 8 release. not exactly sure about that as i don’t have hands on a iphone right now…
if you want to test your system ( safari & chrome ) just click here:
don’t be scared, its just a crash!! hehe
i know that apple is aware of that bug for at least 6 month, so why not fixing it mavericks !?

PS: my favourite crash was finder respawning in an infinite loop. irreversible if you don’t boot from disk ;D
